Improving Work Through Digital Solutions

For Julia Tasa, technology is not just about systems. It’s about helping people work more smoothly together.

As an ICT Service Manager at Raute, Julia works at the intersection of technology, collaboration, and everyday problem-solving. Based in Lahti, she helps develop systems, services, and processes that support employees across the organization in their daily work.

“What motivates me most is seeing development work turn into real improvements for people,” Julia says. “It’s rewarding to know that something you’ve helped build actually makes someone’s day-to-day work easier.”

A large part of Julia’s work involves collaboration with teams across different business units, countries, and external ICT partners. For her, successful digital development starts with listening.

During the recent development project, Julia has worked closely with employees from across the company to better understand how functions operate today and where the biggest challenges exist. These conversations have provided valuable insights into everyday work at Raute and helped shape solutions from a broader company-wide perspective.

“The best solutions rarely come from one viewpoint alone,” she explains. “Open discussions and shared experiences help us develop tools and processes that work better for everyone.”

Julia is particularly interested in automation and modern digital tools that reduce manual work and improve efficiency. One recent example was helping build an automated spare parts quotation solution. The project combined practical business needs with digital solutions that simplified and streamlined the process behind the scenes.

“I enjoy situations where I can help turn an idea into a practical solution and build the automation that supports it,” Julia says.

Even though digitalization and automation are becoming increasingly important in modern working life, Julia believes people and interaction remain at the center of successful development.

For her, a good workday includes both focused development work and meaningful interaction with colleagues, whether it’s problem-solving together, sharing ideas over coffee, or simply having face-to-face discussions at the office.

One thing Julia appreciates at Raute is how openly people collaborate across teams and functions.

Looking ahead, she is excited about continuing to improve the way people work through smarter digital solutions, better collaboration, and modern technologies that genuinely support everyday work.

“Technology works best when it helps people focus on what matters most.”
